A Favorite Dressing

We love this vinaigrette salad dressing because the flavors are extra zesty!

Ingredients

OIL Choose a light flavored oil such as vegetable or canola oil.

VINEGAR Red wine vinegar is our favorite flavor but white wine vinegar works too.

HONEY Sub out sugar (or even real maple syrup if it’s all you have).

DIJON Mustard adds flavor but also helps emulsify the dressing (along with honey) so the oil and vinegar don’t separate.

Got Leftovers?

This dressing will keep 2 to 3 days in the fridge.

Spinach salad dressing can also be drizzled over roasted potatoes or enjoyed as a dipper for homemade bread.

  1. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I recently realized that I do like spinach after avoiding it for years. My husband will love this one. Just wanted to thank you for sharing this recipe. I look forward to more delicious recipes. **

  2. What is your serving size? 2 tbsp? 1/4 cup? Etc. And how many calories a serving? You say 290 calories but is that per serving or for the whole jar of dressing? Please help.

    1. I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure Clasina, but that should be just fine! If you try it I would love to hear how it turns out!

  3. Eight cups of spinach?? Walmart sells fresh spinach in a 10 oz bag which is only one and a quarter cups. I’m sure this is a good recipe but without knowing how much of the main ingredient to buy, I’ll have to pass. Spinach is not typically sold by the cup leaving some (like me) in need of more information such as the units found when purchasing the ingredients. This recipe therefore is NOT for amateurs like me.

    1. Hi Mr. Aubrey, a cup of spinach is about 1.5 ounces. We don’t pack it tightly when measuring so you should be able to get approximately 7 cups out of a 10-ounce bag of spinach. You can make the dressing and reduce the salad size to whichever you prefer. I hope that helps!

  4. Love this dressing! It will definitely increase my spinich intake. Also love your ranch dressing mix. Thanks for the awesome recipes!5 stars

  5. Your site is becoming my first choice when preparing a meal—thank you for your excellence in taste and an eye on the budget! Classic spinach salad with a very nice dressing, recommended to everyone!5 stars

  6. Tired of the same old salads & looking to use up some spinach, I searched for a spinach salad dressing. This was tasty & we loved it. I’ll be making this again. I only added Craisins & some crumbled feta because that’s what I had on hand. Still tasty!5 stars

  7. This dressing was good, I will definitely make again. I did add bacon grease from the cooked bacon used to top my salad ‘cuz who doesn’t like bacon. Also, I used jarred minced garlic as I was out of fresh. Thanks for sharing.4 stars

  8. Every once in a while, you come across a recipe with the perfect balance of flavours – this is one of them. It was SO GOOD on a fresh spinach salad! The only minor change I made was to use half extra virgin olive oil and half light olive oil. Thanks for a great recipe!5 stars
