A Note on Air Fryers

If you’re looking at this recipe you may already have an air fryer but if not, you can buy them at most stores now or online.

I have had three types of Air Fryers and so far, this Air Fryer here is my favorite. I love it because it has a large capacity, it’s super easy to use and easy to clean. While it’s a bit of an investment, the price is pretty good.

I find this air fryer makes things crispy and delicious in no time at all!  It is one appliance I keep on my counter and use almost daily for reheating everything from pizza to snacks and even french fries! View more air fryers here.

Why We Love This Recipe!

These Air Fryer Potatoes are quick and easy to make and everyone loves them (and they make for a great appetizer with a homemade ranch dip).

They cook in about half of the time compared to oven-roasted potatoes.

They’re lower in fat and calories than traditional fried potatoes, making them a great alternative.

These roasted potatoes will come out perfectly crispy every time, seasoned with garlic and rosemary. Feel free to switch up the seasoning for a different taste!

Ingredients & Variations

Potatoes are such versatile veggies to cook with. There are so many variations, the sky is the limit!

POTATOES Any potatoes will work great! I love baby potatoes in this recipe but just like roasted potatoes, Russet, Yukon Gold, or red potatoes are all great choices!

OIL This recipe uses a little bit of olive oil, but there are many variations that will work if you don’t have any! Canola, sunflower, avocado, or peanut oil will all taste delicious!

SEASONINGS Garlic powder, fresh rosemary, and salt and pepper are all that’s needed to season these potatoes!

VARIATIONS Why not switch up the seasonings and sprinkle on cajun seasoning, Montreal steak spice, or even homemade seasoned salt?

Top with sour cream, chives, and shredded cheese for a great side dish that pairs perfectly with anything!

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Potatoes

  • Allow the air fryer to pre-heat before adding potatoes. This helps make them extra crispy.
  • Instructions may vary based on the brand of Air Fryer. Check your user manual for volume and times.
  • Be sure the potatoes are patted dry so the seasonings stick to the potatoes and the crisp instead of steam!
  • To reheat leftovers, place them back in the (preheated) air fryer for 5-10 minutes.

    1. To make ahead of time, place them back in the (preheated) air fryer for 5-10 minutes when ready to cook.

    1. Hi Melissa, each air fryer is different but in my Cosori air fryer, we do not remove the tray. The tray allows for air circulation around the potatoes which helps get them perfectly crisp!

  1. These potatoes were so good they reminded me of my childhood. They were exactly the way my mother made them only this way was easier5 stars

  2. Holly you have sent us many recipies over two years or so ….THX we are now graduated to an Air Fryer…..gift so I will start to build a recipe folder dealing with air fryer”s

  3. Followed every direction and ingredients measures. At 15 minutes we smelled a charring smell and thought that meant the potatoes were browning nicely. At 17 minutes, the odor smelled charred so I checked. Sadly the potatoes were too burnt on the outside and the interior was extremely dry. Suggestion using the Ninja Foodie is to begin checking doneness at 14-15 minutes. To be fair, the cut of potatoes matters. Maybe, Holly, give an estimate on cut inches? I think that makes a difference. I will definitely air fry these again because Holly’s recipes never disappoints, until this.1 star

    1. As mentioned in the recipe, instructions may vary based on the brand of Air Fryer. Check your user manual for volume and times. You can see the size of the cut potatoes in the images. Hope that helps Clancy.

  4. have printed off a few just now so I haven’t had time to try any…but they all look delicious. Also for the applie pie filling, what kind of apple do you recommend?

  5. This is a 5 star recipe. Mine came out a bit dry as I used larger chunks of russets and had to cook a few minutes longer. I know it would have been much better with baby reds or Yukon golds cut into smaller pieces.5 stars

  6. Thank you for sharing this simple, but tasty recipe! This recipe is the first thing I tried with my new air fryer and my husband is in love with how the potatoes crisped up on the outside and were tender and fluffy on the inside! We ate them for breakfast.5 stars

  7. I was wondering what the serving size is that you used to determine the nutrition information you provide? I absolutely love all your recipes. Thank you so much, keep ’em coming!

    1. The serving size is ¼ of the recipe. If you go by weight, the serving size varies a little bit based on how big the potatoes are cut but it’s approximately 1 ¼ cups. I hope that helps!

  8. You mention that this is your favourite air fryer but did not mention the name of it. Can you please share the name? THANX!

    1. Apologies Edward, it’s the Cosori XL. Mine is the 5.8QT model which is a nice large size and I have the one with the push buttons (not the dial).
